Day 66: Emergence

33 days later....
I started a new piece. One that caught my eye and drew my attention. This is a piece I feel committed to and I'm so excited with how it's been going so far. I've only been working on it for about 12 hours and the progress is outstanding. To be honest, I'm so amazed that I was able to paint a portrait with such ease after 10 months of not painting anything. I feared that the long break would've thrown me off a bit but to my surprise, it worked out a lot better than I imagined. At the end of the day, it really is all about muscle memory and my body knew what needed to happen.
Long story short, I saw this image on instagram of a model. Her name is Sylina and she had done this stunning photoshoot of her in this costume set with black wings. Through the set, there was a particular image/pose that caught my attention. It was the juxtaposition of the composition that was so beautiful, I had to paint it. I knew that this was what I needed to paint so here we are! The beginning of a very beautiful and sultry piece of a dark angel praying or seeking help. Simple yet so enticing. As far as the painting goes, I've been working on it for about 12 hours now and by the looks of it, it needs another 8 - 10 more hours before I can declare it completed. There's quite a few details missing from the feathers of the wings to the body jewelry and the fine details of her hair.

This piece is really exciting and I'm just thrilled to be back to my original state even though it took a while. I can't say I'm adjusting anymore and have to come to terms with my current situation. There's only so much I can do and if anything, I want to improve and make the most of my time and talent :)
